We all know the first step to stunning makeup is a solid skincare routine, so after covering sustainable skincare products, it only made sense to dive into sustainable beauty products as well. We can all agree that once we find a beauty product or brand that works for us, we quickly become loyal customers for years to come. Prior to this year, I had only tried a handful of makeup products, and the second I found one that satisfied my needs, I was hooked. I made it a goal in 2022/2023 to analyze each product I use on my skin (AKA our largest organ) to ensure I was truly nurturing my body rather than using the random products floating around in the bottom of my makeup bag.

I’ve found a handful of sustainable and clean products that actually work with my skin rather than against it. Let’s run through the ideal sustainable beauty routine and why each product deserves a spot in your 2023 lineup.

Cocokind Daily SPF Mineral-Based Sunscreen | $25

Beginning with a layer of the Cocokind Daily SPF Mineral-Based Sunscreen is key after your skincare routine and before applying makeup. A stunning makeup routine is nothing without a flawless base that also protects your skin from harmful UV rays. Let’s fix the problem at its source by avoiding sun damage and early signs of aging caused by excess sun exposure. The sun is not the enemy, but we do need to care for our skin, even if it’s just for a quick lap around the neighborhood.

Saie Slip Tint Dewy Tinted Moisturizer SPF 35 Sunscreen | $36
Once applying a solid base of SPF, a skin tint is step two. The Saie Slip Tint Dewy Tinted Moisturizer is a creamy, comfy skin tint that is sure to give you a glowy, glass skin look. I had reservations at first because skin tints rarely cover my blemishes, but this product blew my mind with its sheer coverage that somehow diminished redness. This tinted moisturizer is definitely on the road to becoming your new go-to clean beauty product.

Kosas Revealer Concealer | $30

Old news, but the Kosas Revealer Concealer is and always will be my first pick when covering blemishes or discoloration. Every influencer on the internet has said it, but I’ll say it again for good measure: this concealer is a game changer for your skin. I’ve hit speed bumps in the past when trying to find the perfect concealer because it was always too dry, too hydrating, too much coverage, or too little. Once finding Kosas, this concealer solved my issues and worked its way into my shopping cart time and time again.

Saie Sun Melt Natural Cream Bronzer | $32
I’m beginning to sound like an influencer here, but I truly have tried and love these products (if I didn’t love them, trust me, I’d tell you). The Saie Sun Melt Natural Cream Bronzer is a product I will definitely be repurchasing. In the past, I was a big fan of a cream bronzer from Chanel, but the price point was a hard pill to swallow. My hunt to find a product with a similar formula ended once I found Saie. This cream bronzer is key when creating a seamless and natural bronzed look.

Saie Dew Liquid Cheek Blush | $25
Bring a little life and happiness to your skin with the perfect pop of pink. The Saie Dew Liquid Cheek Blush creates a fun, sunkissed look. This product imitates that post-beach glow we all strive for when creating a natural makeup look. Liquid blush is my go-to when trying to create a consistent eye, cheek, and lip color palette that leans into the minimal-effort look I typically go for.

Kosas Wet Lip Oil Gloss | $22

The Kosas Wet Lip Oil was a recent purchase that took my breath away. I am a major fan of the shade Malibu, which creates the look of a freshly bitten berry on the lips. This lip oil is filled with hydrating active ingredients that bring a plump look to your freshly coated lips. Forget the sticky lip gloss that has been rolling around in your purse for 3+ years and upgrade to my go-to gloss.

Glow Recipe Papaya Sorbet Enzyme Cleansing Balm | $32

Using your face as a canvas and creating a beauty look you are proud of is one of the best feelings, but what if I told you the pesky removal process can be just as enjoyable? I have officially found the best makeup remover ever, yes, ever. The Glow Recipe Papaya Sorbet Enzyme Cleansing Balm has taken the cake when it comes to makeup removal. We can all agree that the most dreadful part of our night-time routine is removing our makeup, but this cleansing balm has changed the game. Without leaving a film or causing breakouts, this gentle cleanser removes makeup and nurtures even the most sensitive skin (like mine).

Whether you take advantage of these must-have products or not, there are zero downsides to making the swap to sustainable and clean beauty products. I’d never tell you to empty out your makeup bag and start over, but as your current products begin to dwindle, begin searching for Togeth3r-approved products to introduce into your routine. Sustainability is relatively new to all of us, so no one expects you to be perfect in your journey; that’s why we’re here to help!
